Why Was Juan Williams Really Fired?

Juan Williams was fired the other day by NPR, National Public Radio. The reason for his firing was of a statement he said on the Fox News, Bill O'Reilly Show. The statement was, "But when I get on a plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they're identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous."

For those who don't know who Juan Williams is an American Journalist, who writes for several newspapers, The Washington Post, New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. He also works as a political commentator on Fox News Channel. He is well respected in his field and has an outstanding career. This is why his firing by NPR was such a shock.

Vivian Schiller, NPR’s CEO, said that Williams’ comments should have been “between him and his psychiatrist or his publicist” but she later apologized. She never personally apologized to Williams himself, just a public statement to the press.Handling a very personal attack on Williams in a very impersonal way. Maybe she should keep her personal feelings about Juan Williams, between her psychiatrist and bosses. By the way, wasn't that why they just fired Juan Williams?

A poll was taken and the question was asked, If you were boarding a plane and you saw Muslims sitting in their religious garb, would you feel apprehensive about getting on board or not, or should this question even be asked. 88% said they would feel apprehensive, 11% said no and 1% said this question should not even be asked. It is unfortunate, but it is the times we live in.

What if there was a group of serial killers that were abducting and brutally murdering young children? This group of killers were described as fat men with long white beards, and wearing red hats. Do you think, with the approaching holidays coming, the lines to see Santa at the malls might just be a little shorter this year? It's called fear ladies and gentlemen, and that's why terrorists are terrorists because they use fear to control and fear is their biggest weapon over their enemies.

Now I know that we should not succumb to these fear tactics, but it is a reality we must face. Juan Williams was just stating a feeling of fear that over takes him. He was just being honest. The man doesn't have a biased bone in his body, and if you follow his writings and listen to what he says, you would definitely see that.

Feelings are feelings. We all have them and we all own our own feelings. They are not right or wrong, but they are our feelings. Juan Williams just stated his feelings. He didn't say they were right or wrong, they were just his feelings.

NPR on the other hand, was showing an extreme biased view, of not only their personal feelings of Juan Williams, but also that of Fox News, and here's another one for you.... black journalists? Yes, Juan Williams was the only black journalist working for NPR. After his firing, there are no black journalist working for NPR anymore. Where is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Another case in point. Billionaire, George Seros, just handed NPR an almost two million dollar donation. Do you think that two million dollars just might give you a little clout and maybe a little say into how things just might be run better? Something to think about.

It's no secret where George Seros political views lie and it is no secret where NPR feelings lay either. They make the perfect marriage.

Here is my final point.We live in a free country, but why do my tax dollars go to a broadcasting company that doesn't broadcast the truth, but only their very biased viewpoints and political agendas? Why aren't they on the same playing field as Fox or CNN or any other business in America? You want to know why? They would go bankrupt the first week. George would have to give a lot more than two million dollars. I bet he would think long and hard before doing that.
